My morning started off at a sluggish pace. No, let’s use the word leisurely. My morning started off at a leisurely pace. I slept in until 10:00 AM and then started getting ready for my run—a task that took two hours due to intermittent breaks for coffee, web browsing and lounging. When I finally got out the door for my run it was past noon.
I did a total of 8.5 miles at a 9:00 pace. Slower than I would have liked, but I wasn’t necessarily feeling in the mood to run and honestly just kind of wanted to get it done with.
Running through Balboa Park during my first mile I stumbled upon a sizeable LARP (live-action role playing) gathering. Many people were practicing their sword skills, while others were lazing around the tents scattered about. Everyone was dressed up. I awkwardly stared at and idolized one girl—she wore a ankle-length and slinky emerald dress that evoked a medieval feel and she glided around like a goddess.
I almost whipped out my phone to take a picture of the event, but I was wearing a particularly preppy looking running outfit and was worried they’d assume I was mocking them. In reality, if I could convince a friend to join me, I would take up larping in a heartbeat. Otherwise, the rest of my run was uneventful.
Currently, I am eating two enormous pizza slices and then I’m off to go see the Divergent movie!
Tomorrow I have 17 miles to do—hopefully by then I’ll be feeling a bit more inspired to run.
